(Part One) Recreated by Grace: The Identity and Vocation of the Church in Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians
What is the church? What practices should naturally flow from its identity? And why does this vision matter for the life of God’s people today? This two-part course explores these questions through a close reading of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Part One focuses on the first three chapters of the letter, attending carefully to Paul’s theological vision of the church as the people of God. In these opening chapters, Paul is less concerned with what the church does than with who the church is. Accordingly, this first part centers on the identity of the church—an identity rooted in God’s saving work in Christ which is foundational for all that follows.
